Having Fun at Year 250
Children of all ages and families alike can take advantage of fun workshops from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In them, participants will create crafts themed around the 250th commemoration of the country’s birth. Although officially observed on Independence Day, the celebration lasts throughout 2026. Activities being offered are inspired by American history.
Learning About Longrifles
The Pennsylvania Longrifle was essential to living on the frontier in early America. Larry Gular, a Pennsylvania Longrifle enthusiast and collector, will be available between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for the center’s “Longrifle Family Day.”
He will talk about how and why longrifles were important tools within frontier families. Gular also will display his personal collection of muzzle-loading firearms, parts, equipment, and accessories.
The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center is the regional history museum for the Upper Perkiomen Valley. It holds “internationally recognized collections of Pennsylvania German Fraktur, textiles, agricultural artifacts, and genealogical records.” The center is open Tuesdays through Sundays with free admission to visit exhibits, or to conduct research in its library.
