MECHANICSBURG PA – Two area water treatment plants operated by Pennsylvania American Water have been recognized “for achieving water quality excellence,” the utility reports.
Treatment plants in Norristown (Montgomery County) and Coatesville (Chester County) were among 16 Pennsylvania American facilities honored by the Partnership for Safe Water. The partnership represents a voluntary alliance of six drinking water organizations that examine and ensure water quality, according to the state Bureau of Safe Drinking Water.
Its representatives annually conduct tests before water leaves treatment plants, and in pipes that provide water service. The tests monitor water for more than 90 contaminants.
The Norristown plant received a partnership directors’ award for 25 years of quality, and the Coatesville plant won a 10-year directors’ award.
