Penn Dry Goods An Educational and Shopping Event
Shoppers at the Penn Dry Goods at the rummage sale say they find good deals

Penn Dry Goods An Educational and Shopping Event

May 13, 2026

PENNSBURG PA – Doors of the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center will open Friday and Saturday (May 15-16, 2026) for its annual “Penn Dry Goods” event, providing education, activities, and shopping opportunities for crafters and sewers.

The highly popular Penn Dry Goods rummage sale is said by the center to be “bigger than ever, with fabric, craft projects, notions, and historic patterns and books.” Additionally, a select number of dealers focus on historic and vintage textile dry goods. They are expected to offer quilts, samplers, rugs, and even buttons for sale.

Admission is available for $5 at the center, 105 Seminary St. Its several sessions will operate Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All event proceeds support the museum and library in its collection preservation, exhibitions, and programming.

Two Days of Demonstrations

Throughout both days, demonstrations will share how to sew, knit, quilt, spin, and braid rugs. There’s still time, as well, to make advance reservations for selected ticketed activities. They include quilt identification sessions, quilt turnings, and lectures.

Lectures and the quilt turning are $25 each when tickets are purchased in advance, and $35 at the door. Quilt expert Barb Garrett will evaluate one quilt per person for $15 for a 15-minute session.

Breakfast and lunch items are available for purchase at the food tent, along with baked goods.

Sharing the Pennsylvania German Experience

The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center is the region’s largest museum sharing stories of the Pennsylvania German experience. It is free to attend and open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, and Sundays from 1-4 p.m.
