Philharmonic Free Concert May 21 in West Chester

May 9, 2026

WEST CHESTER PA -“Celebrate America!,” a free community concert presented by the Pennsylvania Philharmonic, is scheduled for May 21 (2026; Thursday) at 7 p.m. in the Madeleine Wing Adler Theatre at West Chester University, 817 S. High St.

No-cost tickets for the 90-minute celebration of American classics are now available online. The concert is among several music education and appreciation programs offered by the orchestra to TriCounty Region audiences.

Celebrate America! also is being presented to regional school student audiences, both in-person and virtually.

The live concert features different musical styles of American music. Organizers describe it as “an exploration of the rhythms that define our history. From early folk traditions to the jazz and blues that reshaped global music,” the performance intends to connect culture and creativity through live sound, according to the Philharmonic.

Its program offers excerpts from iconic music. Included are Copland’s Hoedown, Joplin’s The Entertainer, selections from The Gershwins’ Porgy & Bess, music by Duke Ellington, Bernstein’s Overture from West Side Story, and others.

The non-profit Pennsylvania Philharmonic was founded in 2014. Its two-fold mission is “to introduce young minds to quality classical music, and bring an enriching musical experience to communities around the state.”
