In local entertainment news, the Pottstown Area Artists’ Guild has scheduled two free talks featuring guest speakers on the creative process, and the use of color. Also, the Philadelphia Premium Outlets are offering Easter photo shoots beginning March 19.
Artists Guild Offers March, April Presentations
POTTSTOWN PA – Two “masters of art” presentations, scheduled for March and April by the Pottstown Area Artists’ Guild, will respectively explore the process of creativity, and stories of color and pigments.
The guild’s free and open-to-the-public talks feature recognized artists and experts who discuss various art-related topics and mediums. They occasionally also include demonstrations. Events are typically held on third Mondays of spring and fall months, in the Boyer Gallery at The Hill School Center for the Arts, 766 Beech St. Advance reservations are requested, and can be made online.
March 16: ‘The Process of Creativity’
Shillington resident and life-long artist Robert Seabourne will discuss “The Process of Creativity” March 16 from 7-9 p.m. at the gallery. “Art,” he says, “is a journey, a process, not the final or end product.” Seabourne’s talk is expected to cover his way of working, an exploration of art and artists, and the act of creating.
April 20: ‘Discovering Color and Pigments Through Time’
Berks County artist Barbara Post has become a specialist in art history and culture, and is a popular speaker among area groups on a variety of themes involving artwork, paintings, and sculpture. Her April 20 talk to the guild, also in the gallery from 7-9 p.m., will relate stories of color and pigments from nature, plants, and animals. They “make up some of the most entertaining and mysterious tales of being human,” the guild reports.
The guild was formed by seven area artists during 1960, with goals to allow people to “express themselves collectively,” encourage regional art sales, and to promote art appreciation and education.
