OAKS PA – The thrill of axe-throwing, considered a form of entertainment as much as a sport, grew by an annual average of 3.7% between 2018 and 2023, industry statistics show. Now next-generation axe-throwing, which relies in part on game-changing laser-projected targets for added fun, has come to Arnold’s Family Fun Center, 2200 West Dr.
Arnold’s on Aug. 29 (2025; Friday) reported the official opening of its newest entertainment offering, “Intelligent Axe-Throwing.” Opportunities to play are available for ages 12-17 accompanied by a participating adult, as well as those age 18 and older. Up to five throwers can compete in the same lane, during a choice of 45- or 90-minute sessions.
Both sessions include lessons from “an axe master,” the company adds.
Dozens of Game Variations
The axes are real. The targets they hit are projected onto wood, so that satisfying sound of solid contact is just as real. But there are “dozens of game variations” as a result of Arnold’s Lasertron projector. Game modes also are changeable from axes, to darts, to team-elimination play, it says.
Installing its throwing arena took several weeks, Arnold’s noted on Facebook. The result, it claims, is “smart, modern, and totally immersive” game-play in a “high-energy environment that reinvents the classic axe-throwing experience.”
The Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board highlighted the new experience in its Friday (Sept. 12) newsletter as one of “Top 30+ Things to Do this September.”
Arnold’s recently announced its had changed operating hours for the fall and winter seasons. The Oaks location is now open Thursdays and Mondays from 3-9 p.m., Fridays from 3-11 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. to midnight, and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information call 610-666-0600, or send an e-mail to info@ArnoldsFFC.com.
Axe-Throwing Growth
Peek Travel Inc., a California-based company that sells online booking and other automation tools, says its research indicates that slightly more than half of surveyed respondents report they have been throwing axes for between 2 and 4 years. The firm also notes that greater interest in the skill has led to an increase in competitive axe-throwing leagues.
“Axe throwing can be safe when proper safety measures are in place,” Peek Pro reports. “Venues typically have strict safety rules in place, and provide trained staff to monitor participants,” it says.
