HARRISBURG PA – Hundreds of adult rainbow trout are expected to be released into Montgomery and Berks counties’ waters through December, the Pennsylvania Boat and Fish Commission said. That should make for productive fishing in weeks and months to come, it indicated.
- The commission has planned a Montgomery County stocking event Nov. 14 (Tuesday) at 11:30 a.m. into Deep Creek and Knight Lake off Route 29 in Green Lane PA. The trout are products of the commission’s Huntsdale Fish Hatchery in Carlisle PA.
- A stocking also was scheduled for Monday (Oct. 16, 2023) at 12:30 p.m. into Pennypack Creek at Lorimar Park, 8600 Pine Rd., Abington Township. The trout were hatched at the commission’s Pleasant Gap Hatchery in Pleasant Gap PA; and
- On the commission’s Berks County calendar are Nov. 14 at 11:30 a.m. into Antietam Reservoir off Antietam Road in Lower Alsace Township. The trout were hatched at Huntsdale in Carlisle PA.
- Another is set for Dec. 12 (Tuesday) at 11:15 a.m. into Kaercher Reservoir off Pine Street in Hamburg PA. Those trout were hatched were hatched at the commission’s Bellefonte Fish Hatchery in Bellefonte PA.
- An earlier stocking was scheduled for Tuesday (Oct. 17) at 12:15 p.m. into Scotts Run Lake, off Scotts Run Road in Union Township. The trout were hatched at the Benner Spring Hatchery in State College PA.
No stocking events during the three-month period were listed for Chester County waters. The commission said it was releasing fewer trout for the fall than it does during the spring season. About 100 Pennsylvania waterways were expected to receive fish.
