Art Now Sought for 2026 ‘Scenes of the Schuylkill’ Show

November 6, 2026

POTTSTOWN PA – Artists are being encouraged to begin offering submissions for the 22nd annual “Scenes of the Schuylkill” juried art show and sale.

The event, conducted by the Schuylkill River Greenways (SRG) National Heritage Area, benefits its work in making the river publicly accessible for tourism and recreation. It also serves to visually define the river’s beauty and bounty for local, state, and national audiences.

Artworks being sought are those that “communicate the distinctive nature of the region and can focus on people, the river, streams, landscape, or historic properties,” the heritage area reported in a Friday (Nov. 6, 2026) e-mail.

Works can include “original artwork or photography, on paper or canvas, of a scene” within its five counties. Original sculptures are being accepted too. Details, dates, deadlines, and other information are available in an online prospectus.

The show is scheduled for exhibit from Dec. 4 (Friday) through Jan 29 (2027; Friday) in the North Hall Gallery of the Montco Cultural Center at Montgomery County Community College, 16 W. High St.

A ticketed reception for the artists is planned for Dec. 9 from 6-8 p.m, also in the North Hall Gallery.

A variety of pieces on display in Scenes of the Schuylkill will be available for sale to the public. Schuylkill River Greenways will collect a 30% commission fee from all sales resulting from the show and exhibit.

Revitalizing the River Region

SRG says it is working “to revitalize and restore the Schuylkill River region.” It focuses on natural and cultural resource conservation, recreation, education, community revitalization, and heritage tourism.

The Scenes of the Schuylkill show is intended to shine “a spotlight on the unique qualities of the region, through the talents of the arts community,” it adds.

The heritage area encompasses all or parts of Schuylkill, Berks, Chester, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties that drain into the river and its tributaries, commonly known as a watershed.

It covers roughly 1,750 square miles, or more than 1.2 million acres. About 3.2 million people live within its boundaries.

This year’s guest juror is Zvezdana Stomirovic, an artist from North Wales. She will conduct her duties as juror on Dec. 2-3 (Wednesday and Thursday).

Stomirovic received her master’s degree in fine arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She later became a core member of its art department, and an award-winning professor.

Her artwork has been exhibited across the mid-Atlantic and Europe. Currently she is working on her newest exhibition, featuring natural landscapes in the area.
