BOYERTOWN PA – Coffee and pie will be available for purchase at 1938 prices – a nickel for a cup of coffee and a quarter for a slice of pie – on Nov. 7 (2026; Saturday) in Boyertown.
Diner Day is “back by popular demand,” the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles, 85 S. Walnut St., proclaims on its website.
The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fegley’s Reading Diner exhibit inside the museum. The purchase of a museum ticket, available at the door, is required. However, the museum believes visitors will want to see all it has to offer … beyond some mouth-watering pie and a hot cuppa java, both at bargain costs.
Tickets cost $10 for adults; $9 for seniors age 60 and older, as well as for members of AAA; and children 12 and younger accompanied by an adult are free. Museum members also are admitted free.
The Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles is considered “the premier museum of Pennsylvania’s roadside history: the vehicles, the factories that built them, the roads they traveled, and the diners and cabin courts that made the journey worth taking.” Now more than 60 years old, the museum also is preparing to open an additional gallery building in mid-November.
Boyertown Diner Supplies Comforts of the ’30s

The preserved Fegley’s Reading Diner was built in 1938 by the Jerry O’Mahony Company, the museum explains. The diner came fully equipped, right down to a menu board and its cash register. It served customers in Exeter PA for decades before the Fegley family expanded it.
“Pull up a stool at the counter or slide into a booth” at the diner, the museum suggests. They are “the same seats visitors have used since 1938,” it adds.
They kept serving until 2003. When the building faced demolition, the Archbury Foundation stepped in to save it. It was moved into the museum during 2009, carried by two forklifts through a partially removed wall.
For most of the year, the diner remains an exhibit to sit in, but not order from, the museum acknowledges. Diner Day is the one day that it annually reverts to the use for which it was built. The 2026 events is sponsored locally by Frecon Farms, The Brakeman’s Café, Imperial’s Catering, The Kathy Barry Agency LLC, and Merkel’s Shoes Inc.
