POTTSTOWN PA – In this edition of Pottstown Foodie, an out-of-town (really far out) publisher proclaims Gazzo’s Steaks as a winner. Italian Delite Trappe makes a major investment in its patrons’ outdoor dining pleasure.
Gazzo’s Steaks Makes A Name for Itself, in Wyoming
POTTSTOWN PA – The excellent reputation of Pottstown restaurants spreads far and wide. The latest online publisher to notice how good area diners have it here comes from Wyoming, 1,800 miles northwest of the borough. Sheridan WY, to be precise.
The city, located near Montana’s southern border, is home to the “Family Destinations Guide.” The natiowide publisher says it offers “reviews and guides to places that make local life feel richer without demanding a rich person’s budget.” Its web-based publications cover all 50 states.
Earlier this month (Oct. 10, Saturday), its Pennsylvania edition proclaimed Gazzo’s Steaks, 22 S. Hanover St., as its Number 1 choice of the state’s “most legendary cheesesteak spots.”
The article’s author, Pennsylvania native and mom Clare Allard, did not specify the criteria used in ranking the eight competitors. She did, however, offer significant praise for Gazzo’s as the top contender.
Allard mentioned the “sharp look” of the restaurant’s downtown exterior. Of its products, she wrote that Gazzo’s sandwiches were “crafted with focused attention and real quality.” She also called Gazzo’s “a new entry in the Pennsylvania cheesesteak conversation.”
The remaining seven Pennsylvania restaurants were located in Philadelphia (2), Beaver, Williamsport, Camp Hill, Hershey, and West Chester.
Like many other online readers, Gazzo’s Facebook page reports the restaurant learned about its success after the Family Destinations Guide piece was picked up by the local edition of NewsBreak.
Good news always spreads quickly.
At Italian Delite Trappe, Take Your Seat … Outside

TRAPPE PA – There may be no meal more relaxing, and more prone to good conversation, than one held “al fresco.” The Italian phrase translates to “in the fresh air.”
It could consist of a sandwich consumed on a bench in a park beneath a tree. Or a cheese-and-crackers snack eaten on a tablecloth spread across a lawn. Or a favored dish enjoyed on an outdoor patio.
That’s exactly what Italian Delite Trappe, 734 W. Main St., had in mind.
It announced, in a video on its Instagram page, the completion and official opening of its patio. It’s a “whole new way to experience” the pizzeria and restaurant, it reports.
However, this is no concrete slab covered by a vinyl awning. This is a patio that, the video demonstrates, has gone high tech.
Its louvered roof electronically opens like a sunshade, allowing daylight and fresh air to penetrate on pleasant days. It can close up tight when bad weather threatens. Its side openings also have retractable screens that, should a dining party desire, can enclose the entire area.
There’s enough room for 48 guests.
Matched table and chair sets come with thickly cushioned seats. Finishing touches – like the installation of outdoor televisions, and heaters that could extend the patio’s use into November – are expected to be completed soon, management says.
“We want this to be a space you’ll look forward to spending time in,” it adds.
The restaurant may be anticipating bigger crowds, too. Its website is advertising to hire additional team members.
