STOWE PA – National Police Weekend, which annually honors first-responding law enforcers across the country, doesn’t officially begin until late September. In West Pottsgrove Township, though, a celebration for its police department deserves an earlier start.
The township and department have set aside Sept. 3 (Thursday) from 6-8:30 p.m. on their campus at 980 Grosstown Rd., Stowe PA, to both thank police and acknowledge America’s 250th anniversary. The free-to-attend evening is planned with many activities.
They start, in part, with the public’s opportunity to meet local first responders. The department says it looks forward to conversations that build and strengthen its community partnerships.
Officers and department leaders will be available to talk about the many services they provide, and their roles during emergencies and other events.
Visitors can enjoy “exciting demonstrations, delicious food, music, games, and activities for all ages,” the township reports. It anticipates the night also will reflect its residents’ patriotism and community pride.
Military Service Members On Hand, Too
Scheduled to be on display are a SWAT armored vehicle, a crime scene forensics truck, a bomb squad truck and robot, a state police motorcycle unit, a fire company ladder truck, an ambulance and rescue boat, and heavy-duty tow trucks and recovery vehicles.
Representatives of the U.S. Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, and the Army National Guard will be on hand too. Accompanying them are a variety of military vehicles, exhibits, and activities that include a fitness challenge.
More evening fun is offered with police K-9 demonstrations, a rock-climbing wall, give-aways, giant inflatables, face painting, a petting zoo, and DJ-driven music. Several food vendors, a series of family games, and photos with Bam Bam of Mission BBQ round out the observance.

Nationally, Police Weekend 2026 (Sept. 25-27, Friday through Sunday) is sponsored by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, headquartered in Washington DC.
The fund also operates The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, and the National Law Enforcement Museum. Both are located in the capital on E Street, between 4th and 5th Streets NW.
