One Black Moth Gallery Exhibit Continues, Another Awaits

August 16, 2026

POTTSTOWN PA – An art exhibit titled “The Tales Told Us So,” which focuses on mythologies and lore as its theme, continues on display through Aug. 31 (2026; Monday) at Black Moth Tattoo and Gallery, 2209 E. High St.

It will be quickly followed at Black Moth, beginning Sept. 1 (Tuesday), by a new show called “Allowed to See Differently.” Gallery owner Steve Martin reports that exhibit will feature abstract art, and runs through Sept. 30

Both showcase the works of local and regional artists. The exhibits are free to attend, and open to the public. Black Moth is open Thursdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

About ‘The Tales Told Us So’

Artwork by William Thideman from “The Tales Told Us So,” a group exhibition around mythology and lore available through Aug. 31 at Black Moth Tattoo and Gallery in Pottstown

The exhibition showcases “a range of styles and perspective on the theme of mythologies,” Martin says. Its artworks “celebrate aspects from across great cultures that influence us still today, as they inherently illuminate humanities universal archetypes.”

Visitors can expect “visual interpretations inspired by the early Americas, ancient Greeks, the Norse, from Oceania, Africa, Asia and many other appreciations of the subject.”

Ten artists were invited to participate in “The Tales Told Us.” They are Andy Chambers, Bob Doucette, Lindsay Gilbert, Anya Gladun, Billy Haines, Casey Lynch, Alecia Miller, Susan Norton, Brian Reedy, and William Thidemann.

Their works are available for purchase, and can be viewed and bought online.

About ‘Allowed to See Differently’

Black Moth’s announcement of its September exhibit, “Allowed To See Differently.” An artists’ reception is scheduled for Sept. 4

“The world of abstract can take many forms,” Martin observes. “Allowed to See Differently” seeks to encompass “a range of artistic styles and mediums to celebrate the wide breadth of intentions and expressions,” he adds.

Twelve artists were invited to participate. They include Keith Breitfeller, Marina Chisty, Carolyn Kline-Coyle, Brian David Dennis, Sandi Neiman Lovitz, Lee Muslin, Mark Price, Rebecca Schultz, Scott Sneddon, Temre Stanchfield, Rita Reisser, and Anthony Zecca.

An artists’ reception at Black Moth is scheduled for Sept. 4 (Friday) from 6-9 p.m., and is open to the public.

All “have declared their independence from portraying reality in favor of creating abstract art that focuses the emphasis on the essential elements of line, shape, color, form, and gestural marks,” Martin notes. “Their aims are to achieve unique visual expressions of intensity and rhythmic effects.”

“This is a language that can be bold or lyrical, structured or loose, brightly colored or quietly muted, cryptic or dazzling. The beauty is that it is often whatever you want it to be, and that may vary from creator and to each individual viewer.”

“When engaging with such works viewers are encouraged to contemplate the meaning, ask the thought-provoking questions, as well as employ their imagination to achieve an extraordinary understanding of such art.” Works in the exhibition also are available for purchase.
