HARRISBURG PA – Nearly $4 million in grants were awarded Thursday (Aug. 13, 2026) to 19 school districts and educational institutions in western Montgomery, eastern Berks, and northern Chester counties.
The money is being distributed by the School Safety and Security Committee of the state Commission on Crime and Delinquency. It will pay for behavioral health programs for students and staff, and to make learning environments safer and more secure.
The committee’s announcement did not offer details on individual recipients’ plans to spend the funds.
Receiving funds in western Montgomery County are the:
- Montgomery County Intermediate Unit 23, Norristown, $70,000;
- Pottstown School District, Pottstown, $242,565;
- Pottsgrove School District, Pottstown, $228,589;
- Spring-Ford Area School District, Royersford, $439,175;
- Perkiomen Valley School District, Collegeville, $300,467;
- Upper Perkiomen School District, Pennsburg, $236,564;
- Methacton School District, Eagleville, $293,683;
- Western Montgomery Career and Technical School, Limerick, $70,000; and
- North Montco Tech Career Center Career and Technical School, Lansdale, $70,000.

Grants in Eastern Berks and Northern Chester
Recipients in eastern Berks County are the:
- Berks County Intermediate Unit 14, Reading, $70,000;
- Berks Career and Technical School, Oley and Leesport, $70,000;
- Boyertown Area School District, Boyertown, $367,013;
- Daniel Boone Area School District, Birdsboro, $226,655; and
- Oley Valley School District, Oley, $161,730.
In northern Chester County, grants went to:
- Chester County Intermediate Unit 24, Downingtown, $70,000;
- Chester County Career and Technical School, Phoenixville, Downingtown, and West Grove, $70,000 ;
- Owen J. Roberts School District, Pottstown, $322,945;
- Phoenixville Area School District, Phoenixville, $281,753; and
- Renaissance Academy Charter School, Phoenixville, $70,000.
State 147th House District Rep. Donna Scheuren was among legislators announcing the distributions to their constituents.
“When the state invests in schools, she said, it makes “a commitment that every student and educator be given a safe, supportive environment.” The entire community benefits, she added, when schools implement security enhancements and are better equipped to address behavioral needs.
