Crime Prevention Grants of $1.9+ Million Awarded Locally

Crime Prevention Grants of $1.9+ Million Awarded Locally

June 23, 2026

HARRISBURG PA – Seven grants totaling more than $1.19 million will be delivered to agencies in Montgomery, Berks, and Chester counties as a result of new approvals by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.

The state and federal allocations being awarded locally range in size from $100,000 to $250,000. They are intended to “to make communities safer, support victims of crime, and reduce youth violence and substance use,” the commission says.

Some grants also will “ support individuals in county jails with life-saving treatment to overcome opioid and substance use disorders,” it adds.

Local Recipients

Recipients in Montgomery County are:

  • YWCA Tri-County Area, in Pottstown, $199,879, for “Recreational Prevention and Wellness;”
  • Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, in Norristown, $199,903, for medication-assisted treatment at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility;
  • Victim Services Center of Montgomery County LLC, in Norristown, $100,000, for :“Child Abuse Treatment Project Service Enhancement.”
  • Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center, in Plymouth Meeting, $249,962, for “Promoting Safe Behaviors for At-Risk Youth;” and
  • Mission Kids Advocacy Center, in Plymouth Meeting, $100,000, for “Advocacy Services for Victims of Abuse.”

In Berks County, the Berks County Board of Commissioners in Reading won $100,000 for a “Forensic Interview Position.” In Chester County, Gateway HorseWorks in Malvern will receive $250,000 for “Leading The Way: Justice Involvement Prevention.”

Meaningful Community Investments

Overall, during their June 11 (2026; Thursday) meeting, commission members approved distributions of more than $21 million.

“This approved funding represents meaningful investments in safer, healthier communities across Pennsylvania,” commission Executive Director Kirsten Kenyon says.

“From expanding services for child victims of sexual abuse and resources for victims of gun violence, to supporting youth violence prevention, and improving access to treatment for individuals with substance use disorders, these funds will positively impact communities all across our Commonwealth,” Kenyon adds.

The commission also approved its 2025 federal Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program Plan. It focuses on reducing firearm suicides. The plan, it says, also equips communities with training and resources “to respond holistically to behavioral health crises, through models like crisis intervention teams, and advancing local strategies that prevent domestic violence and intimate partner homicides.”
