Meaningful Community Investments
Overall, during their June 11 (2026; Thursday) meeting, commission members approved distributions of more than $21 million.
“This approved funding represents meaningful investments in safer, healthier communities across Pennsylvania,” commission Executive Director Kirsten Kenyon says.
“From expanding services for child victims of sexual abuse and resources for victims of gun violence, to supporting youth violence prevention, and improving access to treatment for individuals with substance use disorders, these funds will positively impact communities all across our Commonwealth,” Kenyon adds.
The commission also approved its 2025 federal Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program Plan. It focuses on reducing firearm suicides. The plan, it says, also equips communities with training and resources “to respond holistically to behavioral health crises, through models like crisis intervention teams, and advancing local strategies that prevent domestic violence and intimate partner homicides.”
