COLLEGEVILLE PA – An annual plant sale, conducted by the master gardeners of Montgomery County Penn State Extension, has been scheduled for May 16 (2026; Saturday) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Farm, Home and Youth Complex, 1015 Bridge Rd.
It offers what the Extension office describes as “an abundant selection of high quality plants, grown locally by master gardeners and sourced from trusted nurseries. Shoppers will find vibrant annuals, vegetable transplants, herbs, hardy perennials, trees, shrubs, and other items,” it adds.
Knowledgeable master gardeners will be on hand during the sale to help visitors choose the right plants for their gardens, and to answer questions about care, placement, and maintenance. Master gardeners are trained in plant selection, soil health, pest management, and sustainable gardening practices. They can provide expert guidance to help gardens thrive.

Annuals, Vegetables, Herbs, and ‘Woody’ Plants
Multiple pavilions within the Farm, Home and Youth Complex serve as the venues for the sale. In the Seipt Pavilion, shoppers will find annuals and vegetables, herbs and woodies.

Explore a wide variety of flowering annuals available in pots and hanging baskets and suited for sun or shade. Also available are butterfly-attracting and deer-resistant options. Vegetable lovers can choose from numerous tomato varieties, sweet and hot peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, and others.
At its educational table, find tips on designing a butterfly container garden, and using colorful annuals with flowers that provide feed nectar for butterflies. Suggestions also will be offered for choosing deer-resistant annuals for container gardening, or planting in your in-ground gardens.
Choose from a variety of culinary herb favorites, great for containers or garden beds, that add flavor, aroma, and a touch of green to any space. Herbs are versatile, low-maintenance, and ideal for both beginners and seasoned gardeners. Many of these plants produce nectar-rich flowers that attract and nourish pollinators throughout the growing season.
The “Woodies” section offers a selection of trees, shrubs and vines. Find natives, native cultivars, and non-aggressive exotics; all suitable for growing in our local climate. Options include ground covers, plants with stand-out flowers or fall color, and species that support pollinators.
Perennials, and Plant Care Advice
The Marcho Pavilion at the complex will feature 80 varieties of more than 800 perennials, grown by master gardeners and local nurseries. It highlights native plants that support local ecosystems and attract beneficial wildlife.
The Clemens Pavilion is the check-out area. It also houses tools and garden related items for purchase. This year’s sale includes birdhouse gourds. Master gardener volunteers will pull your price tags, add up your purchases, and direct you to the cash, check or credit payment areas. Proceeds from the sale support Master Gardener community education and outreach programs throughout the county.
