KING OF PRUSSIA PA – Artists, and those who want to be, are being offered nine different opportunities this year to take advantage of the scenic beauty in two area national parks.
Valley Forge National Historical Park in King of Prussia, and Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site in Elverson, invite the public to join their “Art In The Park” program for the remainder of its 2026 schedule. All events are free to attend.
The program specifically focuses on making art. Participants must bring their own tools and materials – a favorite camera, paints, or sketching gear, for examples – and then simply exercise their creativity. Outings are open to all ages and abilities. No advance registration is required.
Parks staffers report they also provide a stress-free, judgment-free environment. Schedule plans, however, depend on staffing and weather conditions.
In Valley Forge (1400 N. Outer Line Dr., King of Prussia PA), the following trail walks are planned specifically for their scenery:
- April 11 from 8-10 a.m. at the Fatlands Trail (also known as the River Trail), with assembly at the Betzwood parking area;
- May 24 from 8-10 a.m. at the Valley Creek Trail, with assembly at the Covered Bridge;
- June 21 from 8-10 a.m. at the Grand Parade Trail, with assembly from the Steuben area;
- July 19 from 8-10 a.m. at the Iron Bridge on Valley Creek, with assembly from the Wilson Road parking lot;
- Aug. 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pop-Up Art Show at Muhlenberg’s Brigade;
- Sept. 6 from 8-10 a.m. at the Wayne’s Woods picnic area;
- Oct. 31 from 7-9 a.m. at the Steuben/Meadow area, to witness the sunrise; and
- Dec. 6 from 8-10 a.m. at the Artillery Park.
A February program at Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, 2 Mark Bird Ln., Elverson, has already been completed. The next “Art In The Park” program there is scheduled for Nov. 22 from 9-11 a.m.
