Hill School, Local Groups to Screen Documentary

POTTSTOWN PA – A documentary film about fundamentalist and evangelical Christians whose children are LGBTQ+ will be screened March 27 (2026; Friday) at 7:30 p.m. in the Hill School Center for the Arts, 766 Beech St. The event is free to attend and open to the public.
The film, titled “Mama Bears,” was released during 2023. It tells the story of mothers “whose profound love for their LGBTQ children has turned them into fierce advocates for the entire queer community,” its website says.
The movie intends to “jump-start respectful, deep-listening conversations between Christian and LGBTQ+ communities,” it adds. It advocates for thoughtful conversations “in a safe, open environment, facilitated by leaders trained in nonviolent communication.” A similar discussion will be held following the screening, organizers report.
The program results from a collaboration of the PRISM LGBTQ+ Community Center of Pottstown, The Hill School’s Hill Advocates for Sexual Orientation, Gender, and Identity (HASOGI) Club, the First Baptist Church of Pottstown, and PFLAG Royersford.
