LIMERICK PA – Earth-moving work is under way in Limerick Township for a new Sprouts Farmers Market within the Heritage Crossing Shopping Center, at 36 W. Ridge Pk. and Township Line Road.
Sprouts describes itself as “one of the largest and fastest-growing specialty retailers of fresh, natural and organic food” in the U.S. The Arizona-based company currently operates more than 480 stores in 25 states, seven of which are in Pennsylvania.
Work crews, heavy equipment, and infrastructure materials that included sewer and water pipes all were moved onto the site during recent weeks.
Bulldozers and excavators could be seen Monday (March 2, 2026), leveling land and moving large piles of fill. Other site components were being unloaded from a nearby trailer. Some of the activity, however, is obscured from the view of passing traffic by the Walgreens that faces West Ridge Pike.

The township reports the property is being developed by Limerick HC Realty Partners LP. It will serve as the site for the 23,256-square-foot market, an adjacent retail building of 12,000 square feet, and parking. A tenant for the second building is not identified, although it is being marketed by the Waters Retail Group for potential retail, medical, and service uses.
The proposal was verified by the Montgomery County Planning Commission in December 2023. The lot itself is zoned by Limerick for Main Street use. However, shopping center applications received conditional use approval several years ago from the township Board of Supervisors.

Fresh Foods, Some Locally Sourced
Sprouts news releases say its stores feature fresh produce sourced in part from local and regional farmers; and proteins that include antibiotic-free chicken, grass-fed beef, sustainably-sourced seafood, and vegetarian and vegan offerings.
Stores also are known for daily meal items: fresh sushi, build-your-own and grab-and-go sandwiches, wellness bowls, ready-to-eat meals, and heat-and-eat prepared foods.
They also present items in bulk for quantity purchasing. Its “bins and barrels (are) brimming with freshly roasted coffee beans, rice, nuts, dried fruits, granolas, trail mixes, baking essentials, (and) spices and sweets,” the company says.
Also available, it adds, is “an assortment of more than 7,000 vitamins, supplements and wellness products.” Stores reportedly are staffed “with wellness experts … to guide customers on their health and nutrition journeys.”
Pursuing Continued Growth

In a February conference with investors, Sprouts’ leadership acknowledged it plans to open more than 40 new stores this year, following the start of 37 locations during 2025, according to Seeking Alpha. “New stores continue to perform well. This strong performance reinforces our confidence in our growth path,” Sprouts CEO Jack Sinclair told listeners.
Its location in Limerick puts it in proximity to three other supermarkets:
- An Aldi market is located across the street, in the Limerick Crossing shopping center at 33 W. Ridge Pk.
- A Lidl market is in The Shoppes at Upper Providence, 1831 E. Ridge Pk., Upper Providence Township, about a half-mile east; and
- A Giant market is across the street from Lidl in The Court at Upper Providence, 1824 E. Ridge Pk., also in Upper Providence.
