LOWER FREDERICK PA – “Anxious People,” described as author Fredrik Backman’s humorous 2020 novel about “a failed bank robber who takes a group of strangers hostage during an apartment open house,” will be featured for discussion Saturday (March 7, 2026) by members of the Lower Frederick Township Book Club.
The gathering is free to attend and open to the public. No registration or commitment is required. The club will meet from 10 a.m. to noon on the fourth floor of the Engage Art Studio, 1005 N. Gravel Pike, Schwenksville PA.
Parking is available in the studio’s upper lot. Light refreshments that include a veggie-and-meat breakfast casserole, and brownies, are sponsored by Taste of Grace Bakery in Perkiomenville.
The discussion marks the club’s first of 2026. The book club got its start in May 2024 as an activity of the township Parks and Recreation Board, and continues to grow.
Newcomers are encouraged to attend, and join members in contributing to the discussion. The group suggests participants bring a copy of the book, any notes they may have taken, and “your chatty self.”
The group also offers its free and official Lower Frederick Township Book Club bookmark to take home.

The club’s next discussions are scheduled for April 18 (Saturday), also at Engage Art Studio. The featured book is “The God of the Woods,” by Liz Moore.
The author’s website describes the novel as “a story of love, inheritance, identity, and second chances, a thrillingly layered drama about the tensions between a family and a community, and a history of secrets that will not let any of them go.”
