POTTSTOWN PA – A community blood drive jointly hosted by the TriCounty Active Adult Center and the American Red Cross is scheduled to be held Dec. 23 (2025; Tuesday) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the center, 288 Moser Rd.
Prospective donors are encouraged to make an appointment for the drive online using the sponsor code PDPP, or by calling 610-323-5009 Ext. 102.
The center is “committed to strengthening our community, and helping meet hospital and patient needs through blood donations,” its Executive Director Brian Parkes says. This drive “is our way of giving staff, colleagues, and neighbors an opportunity to help save lives,” he adds.
Blood is a perishable product that can come only from volunteer donors, the Red Cross explains. Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood, it observes. That demand means blood products must be constantly replenished, representing a need of 38,000 donations daily.

Donors of All Types Needed
“We urge community members to donate blood,” the Red Cross notes. Help ensure patients in local hospitals have a supply of blood ready and waiting before an emergency occurs, it asks.
Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with types O-negative, A-negative and B-negative.
Donating is a safe process, the Red Cross reports. It consists of a simple, four-step process: registration, a medical history and mini-physical, the donation, and refreshments.
The actual donation typically takes less than 10-12 minutes. The entire process, from the time a donor arrives to the time he or she leaves, takes about an hour and 15 minutes, it says.
