PENNSBURG PA – Holiday music, a free LEGO toy give-away for kids, museum exhibits, refreshments, and gift shopping all await Saturday and Sunday (Dec. 6-7, 2025), as the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center, 105 Seminary St., opens its annual Christmas Market.
Admission is free and open to the public. The market operates Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
Because the Schwenkfelder serves as the regional history museum for the Upper Perkiomen Valley, there are plenty of special things to see. Visitors this year can view the Christmas Putz exhibit, a traditional Pennsylvania German village scene. It returns this year, bigger than ever, with a farm and suburb decorated for holiday.
Also visit Holidaze, an exhibit that features decorations of Halloween, Christmas, and Easter.
Kids who visit can receive a special gift. The first 50 children age 4-12 will have the opportunity to build and take home a snowflake ornament. It can be assembled from a kit containing genuine LEGO® pieces, designed by Thayden Reinhart of Matrix Builds.
Throughout the event, while supplies last, enjoy samples from Raw Replenish and free cookies, with an additional special cookie treat for children, from Brookies Bakery. Afternoon holiday music will be provided Saturday by the Upper Perkiomen High School Choir; and Sunday by students from Harmony Corner Music, under the direction of Cynthia Hector.
Heritage Shop Overflows with Gifts
The museum’s Heritage Shop is overflowing with holiday décor, special Pennsylvania themed items, and fun and original gifts for children and adults.

This season’s hot gift? It is “How We Ate,” which the center calls “the definitive book on Pennsylvania German food history,” now in a second edition. The Schwenkfelder’s market reportedly is the only place to purchase it this season.
Also, six artisans will sell their homemade wares, and a holiday rummage sale will be filled to the brim with antique, vintage, and nearly new Christmas decorations.
The market includes the center’s annual basket raffle. Each basket reflects a distinct theme, with many donations of gifts, food, or gift cards from local businesses. Tickets are sold as 2 for $1, or 25 for $10. They must be purchased with cash or a debit card; no credit cards are allowed. Winning tickets will be drawn Dec. 8. Basket raffle proceeds support the center.
The Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center is an official non-profit affiliate of America250PA, the organization planning for Pennsylvania observance of America’s 250th anniversary. It is free and open to the public Tuesdays through Sundays to visit exhibits, or conduct research in its library.
