Three photographers from Pottstown, and one from Collegeville, are among 2025 contest winners selected by Pennsylvania Magazine Company. Also, Wegmans Markets has launched its annual “Check Out Hunger” campaign. And, the Philadelphia Cycling Classic has AmeriGas Propane L.P. as its title sponsor.
Pennsylvania Magazine Publisher Highlights Local Photographers
CAMP HILL PA – Pennsylvania Magazine Company, publishers of “Pennsylvania Magazine” since 1981, calls its best-known product “an old-fashioned print publication.” It does have a website, though, and there you can order a sample issue online. When it arrives, you may be surprised by what you’ll find … including contributions by local residents.
The magazine brings the beauty of Pennsylvania to life, every two months, in rich, gloriously printed color photographs. Its pages also feature full-length articles and news briefs about places worth visiting in the commonwealth.
Leaning on those strengths, Editor Matthew K. Holliday runs three photo contests annually. That’s often where your neighbors’ names often show up.
This year’s contest-winning photographers were recently announced. They include:
- Ginnie Lodge of Pottstown, second place winner in the “Winged Life” category, and honorable mentions in the “Scenic” and “Town Life” categories. Other Lodge photos appeared in earlier editions this year;
- Bobbie Alexander of Collegeville, honorable mention in the “Town Life” category. Her work also has been featured on StateParks.com;
- Mary Ann Dailey of Pottstown, honorable mention in the “Town Life” category. Dailey during July also offered an online photo of the Carousel at Pottstown that attracted dozens of Facebook admirers; and
- Jaime Thomas of Pottstown, honorable mention in the “Winged Life” category. He’s a frequent contributor to the eBird website of Cornell University Laboratories.

Wegmans Launches Another Season of ‘Check Out Hunger’ Campaigns

ROCHESTER NY – Wegmans Food Markets, including its stores in Collegeville and King of Prussia PA, have launched the company’s 2025 “Check Out Hunger” fund-raising campaign. All proceeds from the effort, which runs daily through Nov. 29, will be donated to the local “Feeding America” food bank near each store.
As they check-out with their purchases, Wegmans customers will have an opportunity to donate $1, $2, $3, $5, or any amount at its registers.
“More than 47 million people in the United States face hunger,” the company explains in a media release. The campaign hopes to raise funds for local food banks, which it says helps food-insecure families “fill in the gaps.”
The regional supermarket chain operates 114 stores in East Coast states. Since the campaign began, more than 30 years ago, Wegmans has raised nearly $55 million to help feed individuals and families in need.

King of Prussia Firm Sponsors Return of Philadelphia Cycling Classic

KING OF PRUSSIA PA – AmeriGas Propane L.P., a national retail propane gas distributor and subsidiary of King of Prussia-based UGI Corporation, says it will serve as title sponsor of the 2026 Philadelphia Cycling Classic.
The professional cycling race began in 1985, but has not been run during the past 10 years. In its heyday it attracted more than 100,000 spectators and dozens of international cycling stars, the company reports. The race is now scheduled for Aug. 30 (Sunday).
The race is best known for its 14-mile route through Philadelphia’s neighborhoods. The course includes a challenging 17%-grade climb up the fabled Manayunk Wall.
The event is planned to coincide with festivities that observe the nation’s 250th anniversary. Race weekend activities, community programming and additional event details will be announced online as they develop.
