VALLEY FORGE PA – News issued Friday (Oct. 24, 205) by the promotional team at the Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board may have more to do with sips than with trips. Under its “What’s Good in MontCo” banner, the board published a food-and-drink article that proclaims the arrival of “pumpkin spice season” in Montgomery County.
Several of the board’s “Top 9 Coffee Shops to Stop by this Fall” are found in the county’s western. All nine have pumpkin spice lattes on their menu, and some operate more than a single location.
With fall varied colors and cooler temperatures, the local tourism experts say “pumpkin spice lattes are back to warm our hearts and brighten our days!” What better way to celebrate?, it asks, than by “visiting your local Montco coffee shop to experience the taste of the season.”
Unfamiliar with the drink? A pumpkin spice latte is a coffee beverage most often made with traditional fall spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove; steamed milk, espresso and, occasionally, sugar. It often is topped with whipped cream and pumpkin pie spice. Be aware, however, that recipes can vary as much as the people producing the product.
“The coffee scene is buzzing with cozy spots that serve up this seasonal favorite any way you’d like!,” the board explains.

The Top 9 Pumpkin Spice Purveyors
Why a focus on this specific beverage? The answer may be numerical in nature. Starbucks has sold hundreds of millions of cups, and reaped billions of dollars in revenue, since introducing the flavor in 2003, The Associated Press repors. It is the company’s most popular seasonal beverage, and has attracted pumpkin spice latte imitators and innovators.

Among the Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board premium picks for pumpkin spice lattes are these coffee sellers. They are listed in the order in which they appear in the article:
- Blossom Cafe, 4007 W. Skippack Pk., Skippack PA, where the board says buyers can add “pumpkin spice to any drink of (their) choice;”
- ‘Feine, 812 Fayette St., Conshohocken PA, at which coffee lovers may “enjoy the vibrant fall atmosphere outside;”
- Wake Coffee Roasters, 133 S. Main St., Ambler PA, and 808 Bethlehem Pk., Flourtown PA. Its drinks, according to the article, are “made with double shots of espresso and house-made pumpkin syrup;”
