CSX Rail Work Temporarily Closes Royersford Street
ROYERSFORD PA – CSX Rail, a railroad freight hauler, says it will temporarily restrict travel on Main Street in Royersford for a four-day period beginning Oct. 20 (2025; Monday). Track maintenance is planned. The work has approval from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).
Main Street will be closed and a detour enabled around the clock from Oct. 20-23 (Monday through Thursday) between First Avenue and Second Avenue in Royersford Borough. During the closure, drivers will be detoured on a route that uses Main Street, Bridge Street, Route 724 (Schuylkill Road), Linfield Road, and Lewis Road, according to PennDOT.
Local access will be maintained at all times, the agency adds. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work areas. Backups and delays will occur, it warns. All scheduled activities depend on acceptable weather.
Similar maintenance work also is planned between Oct. 19 (Sunday) and Nov. 8 (Saturday) on highways in North Wales and Norristown.

Pottstown Walmart Renovation Nears Completion
POTTSTOWN PA – Renovation of the Walmart Supercenter at 233 Shoemaker Rd., which got under way several months ago, is nearing completion. Interior signage at the store says the public will be welcomed to its new look during November … although consistent shoppers have already seen much of what’s coming.
Workers have been busy realigning aisles, and moving products and merchandise. To some visitors, aisles seem wider and less cluttered than before. Crews also have re-painted departments and installed larger, eye-grabbing identifiers.
The remodeling was announced in April 2025. At the time, Walmart said its improvements would focus in part on displays to better showcase merchandise, and expanding some departments and inventories they carry. Its pharmacy, the company added, would include private screening rooms and privacy checkout areas.
To engage more customers in the ways they shop now – online, with trunk-service pick-up or at-home delivery – Walmart also indicated the renovation was poised to fulfill current demand, as well as expectations for future growth.

Constellation Reactors at Peak Power During Summer
BALTIMORE MD – Nuclear reactors operated by Constellation Energy Corp. in Limerick PA and 11 other sites successfully “ran at nearly full power” during the summer season, the company says.
Its 21 nuclear reactors from the Midwest to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast collectively operated 98.8% of the time during June, July and August, Constellation reports. That led it to claim, in a media release, “that nuclear is the most reliable and cost-effective energy source on the grid at a time of rising demand and increasingly volatile weather.”
The reactors’ performance is due in part to continuing investments, the company adds.
“Constellation has reinvested billions of dollars to upgrade and enhance our U.S. nuclear fleet with state-of-the-art equipment and controls … That investment is paying huge dividends for families and businesses” in the territories it serves, Constellation President and CEO Joe Dominguez notes.
