POTTSTOWN PA – A “masters of art” talk by a specialist in textured paintings is scheduled for Nov. 17 (2025) by the Pottstown Area Artists’ Guild.
The guild’s free and open-to-the-public talks feature recognized artists or experts who discuss various art-related topics and mediums. They occasionally also include demonstrations. The events are typically held on third Mondays of spring and fall months.
One remains during 2025, to be held in the Boyer Gallery at The Hill School Center for the Arts, 766 Beech St. The presentation will be video recorded. The guild says it may be available as a YouTube video on its website by month’s end.

Ren Hernandez and Textured Paintings
On Nov 17 from 7:30-8:30 p.m., award-winning artist Ren Hernandez will talk about his textured paintings in mixed media. They capture memories, scenes, and emotions through vibrant colors and bold brushwork.
Hernandez is based in West Reading. He describes himself as “a painter who believes that there is so much beauty in this world. I seek to learn, study, and capture as much beauty as I possibly can, never settling on a single subject matter.”
When he is not painting at his studio, Hernandez works as a registered nurse at a local hospital.
Preparing for its Members Show
The guild is finalizing its 2025 Members’ Show, which will open Dec. 5 (Friday). A public reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. at the North Hall Gallery on the Pottstown campus of Montgomery County Community College, 16 E. High St.
The show will then be open for free public viewing on weekdays only through Jan. 23 (2026; Tuesday). The gallery’s hours are Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The gallery schedule will be briefly interrupted when the college is closed, from Dec. 24 to Jan. 1, and on Jan. 19.
Miles DeCoster and Modern Woodcut Prints
In an earlier ‘masters’ talk, on Oct. 20 also at The Hill School Center, modern woodcut print artist Miles DeCoster was scheduled to present a slide show of his recent prints, with commentary. It included a demonstration in creating a two-color chiarascuro print.
DeCoster is professor emeritus at Kutztown University. He also operates a studio and press at Goggleworks in Reading PA. His current focus is printmaking using traditional techniques with non-toxic materials.
