ALLENTOWN PA – Road crews will be at work during the coming week (June 17-21, 2024) on highways in Washington and Hereford townships, Berks County.
Portions of U.S. Route 422 also may be affected, according to the District 5 office of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Travel delays may result, it said.
Restrictions are expected:
- Monday through Friday (June 17-21) in Washington Township from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on PA Route 100 in both directions, between Mill and Chestnut streets, for shoulder work. It will continue through June 28 (Friday), the department noted;
- Monday and Tuesday (June 17-18) in Washington Township overnights from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning on Main Street in both directions, between Mill and Chestnut streets, for unspecified maintenance;
- Monday and Tuesday (June 17-18) in Hereford Township from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Conrad Road, between Baldy Hill and Forgedale roads, for drainage-related work; and
- Monday through Friday (June 17-21) across “various townships” in Berks County overnights from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the following morning on eastbound U.S. Route 422 and Benjamin Franklin Highway East, between Broadcasting Road and its Stowe interchange, for drainage-related work. “This will be a moving operation,” PennDOT warned.
The department urged drivers to “use caution driving through work zone(s). Work schedules depend on acceptable weather, it added.
