POTTSTOWN PA – Mother Nature cooperated early Saturday (Sept. 9, 2023), and held back the rain, to ensure visitors a dry and mostly comfortable morning stroll around the 2023 Pottstown Pet Fair. Hundreds attended during the fair in Memorial Park on West High Street.

A good day is always made better by a little cuddle

Smiles could be seen all around. Children loved the petting zoo and its chance to feed animals they may have been meeting, up close and personal, for a first time. Adults walking or carrying pets of their own shopped at several booths, choosing items for their forever friends or buys that struck their fancy.

A variety of non-profit animal rescue services used the pet fair as a platform to reach directly to area residents. Representatives described their specific needs, but more importantly tried to match rescued animals with those looking to adopt a pet. Several reported they had been operating in some summer weeks at full capacity.

Some booths provided give-aways. A few offered free games of chance with the potential for a prize. “Everybody’s a winner,” one gift distributor said with good humor. A few held raffles or drawings to benefit animal-related causes.
