LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Thunderstorms last week forced Lower Pottsgrove Township to juggle its summer concert line-up somewhat. Worry not, officials say. All the performers audiences are sure to love remain on its schedule.
Sunday night’s (June 25, 2023) threatening storms and rain postponed the opening of this year’s township summer concert series, it announced on Facebook.
The new opening act for the series, next scheduled for July 9 at 6 p.m. at the band shell in Sanatoga Park, 200 S. Sanatoga Rd., will be hometown favorite the Bill Koss Combo. All performances are free to attend and open to the public.
Weather conditions interrupted the return of Creole music and New Orleans rock from the band Zydeco-A-Go-Go. Its performance is reset for Aug. 13 (Sunday), township Secretary Nicole Varady reported.
The concert line-up now looks like this:
- July 9, The Bill Koss Combo (at top);
- July 16, Flamin’ Dick and the Hot Rods;
- July 23, Stephanie Grace;
- July 30, Carnaby Street;
- Aug. 6, The Pottsgrove Community Band; and
- Aug. 13, Zydeco-A-Go-Go.
It’s advisable to bring seating. Come equipped with either a blanket on which to sit or lie on the park’s gentle slope facing the bandstand, or a folding chair to place on its several tiered seating levels. Feel free to bring snacks or a picnic dinner, too.
Sponsorships make the free concerts possible. This year’s summer concert series sponsors are J.P. Mascaro & Sons; the law firm of Yergey Daylor Allebach Scheffey and Picardi; and the law firm of High Swartz.
