MOUNT PLEASANT PA – Hunters, campers, and those who just like to travel light may find overnight lodging to their liking in the back of a pick-up.
Aliner, a camping trailer manufacturer headquartered 40 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, publicly introduced its newest product Tuesday (Aug. 5, 2025). Called the “Aliner Switchback,” it’s described as an “ultra-light sleeping pod” for a truck.
Designed “for the solo traveler,” the 375-pound all-aluminum pod provides a full-size sheltered 60″ x 72″ bed with insulated walls and tinted safety glass. Company President and CEO Brett Randall promises it delivers “a great night’s sleep.” He also jokingly acknowledges what it lacks: “No kitchen. No bathroom. No problem.”
Features and Pricing

The company claims the Switchback takes less than a minute to set up and pop up. When on the road, the camper top folds flat, ties down, and comes with a lockable door. It can remain in most standard- and mid-sized pickup truck beds, and still fit into a 7-foot garage.
It’s accompanied by two 60″ long exterior storage drawers. Additionally it can be outfitted with a 30-amp converter, with interior 12-volt and electric outlets. More information and specifications are available online.
A company representative reports the manufacturer’s suggested retail price, including all options, is $9,500.
