PHILADELPHIA PA – A new exhibit offering a behind-the-scenes look at popular national tourist attractions is coming to Philadelphia’s Franklin Institute science museum. Visitors will have to wait until February 2026, however, to see it.

The Franklin says it will team with Comcast NBCUniversal to open an 18,000-square-foot presentation titled “Universal Theme Parks: The Exhibition.” It will deliver “an immersive and interactive exploration” of Universal Destinations & Experiences’ themed entertainments. The Franklin intends to explain how their stories are developed, and its projects are created.
Comcast NBCUniversal operates Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles CA, Universal Orlando Resort in Orlando FL, and several other parks internationally. In May it opened “the multi-billion-dollar Universal Epic Universe,” also in Orlando, according to The Associated Press.
The coming exhibition features eight themed galleries, 25 interactive experiences, and more than 100 original artifacts from fan-favorite attractions, the museum says. They include Jurassic World, DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon, Universal Monsters, and others.
What You’ll Explore If You Go

Guests will explore the artistry, creativity, and technology behind the Universal parks, the museum adds. It is expected to cover animatronics, robotics, and ride design “thrills and chills.” Galleries also examine costuming, special and visual effects, storyboard artistry, and animators and game designers.
“Hosting the world premiere of an exhibition of this caliber in 2026, during what will be a monumental year for the nation, is extraordinary,” Franklin Institute President and CEO Larry Dubinski says.
The official exhibit opening date is Feb. 14, 2026 (Saturday). Guests can sign up now online for early access to tickets. Those registered also will receive exclusive updates before the general public.
