Tower Health to Expand Reading Pharmacies' Services

Tower Health Expands Pharmacies’ Services Statewide

May 14, 2025

WEST READING PA – Retail pharmacies operated by Tower Health-Reading Hospital are promoting their services to potential customers statewide, as the landscape changes among prescription medication suppliers.

The hospital operates four pharmacy sites, two in West Reading and two in Wyomissing. However, none limits services to their home market, a Wednesday (May 14, 2025) media release notes.

Instead, each now can “provide prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, and free medication home delivery across Berks, Lehigh, and Montgomery counties, and throughout Pennsylvania,” it says.

The hospital’s ability to demonstrate its pharmacy service differences could be important to customers who feel lost or abandoned by other pharmacies making corporate changes. Two examples are:

  • Rite Aid Corporation, which on May 5 (2025; Monday) announced it would seek bankruptcy protection for a second time in two years. The following day it also revealed plans to cut jobs and close all its stores, due to its debt burden and legal liabilities; and
  • Walgreens in April (2025) reported it will close about 500 of stores nationwide by year’s end, and potentially another 700 in coming years. The chain hopes to streamline operations, adapt to changing consumer behaviors, and increase profitability, it says.

“If your local pharmacy is closing or has recently closed, Reading Hospital offers convenient pharmacy services to meet your medication needs,” Tower Health’s release promises.

A Promise of Convenience

“You do not need to be a Tower Health patient to use the pharmacies or medication home delivery service,” it adds. “Pharmacy staff will provide personalized wrap-around support, and can help you easily transfer prescriptions. They also offer medication counseling, automatic refills, text notifications, and copay assistance for patients who qualify.”

The health system’s staff can “do everything possible to find the lowest price and out-of-pocket costs. We make it easy and convenient for you to ask questions, transfer prescriptions, and find resources,” Tower pharmacy operations Vice President Stephanie Goldman PharmD pledges.

Reading Hospital current pharmacy locations are:

  • Reading Hospital 7th Avenue Pharmacy, Reading Hospital Doctor’s Office Building, 301 S. 7th Ave. Suite 145, West Reading PA, 484-659-6337, open weekdays 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.;
  • Reading Hospital Ambulatory Pharmacy, 420 S. 5th Ave., West Reading PA, 484-628-7426, open weekdays 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.;
  • Reading Hospital Broadcasting Pharmacy, 1220 Broadcasting Rd. Suite 101, Wyomissing PA, 484-628-9962, open weekdays 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (but closed for lunch 12:30-1 p.m.); and

During January 2025, Tower announced it was expanding medication delivery beyond a 30-mile radius as a free service to the healthcare system’s patients.
