LOWER FREDERICK PA – “Be Ready When The Luck Happens,” the 2024-published memoir of television’s “Barefoot Contessa” chef Ina Garten, will be featured for discussion Saturday (May 3, 2025) by members of the Lower Frederick Township Book Club.

It’s free to attend, open to the public, and no registration or commitment is required. The club gathers from 10 a.m. to noon on the fourth floor of the Engage Art Studio, 1005 N. Gravel Pike, Schwenksville PA. Those attending are encouraged to use the studio’s back entrance.
It’s hoped that newcomers and members alike will contribute to the discussion, and possibly make suggestions for future club reading selections. Light refreshments – coffee, pastries, and fruit – will be available. The group also offers its free and official Lower Frederick Township Book Club bookmark to take home.
About Garten’s Memoir
Haven’t read Garten’s “Be Ready” yet? There’s still time to get started! It was among last year’s New York Times best-sellers, and was an Amazon.com Editor’s Pick for Best Books of the Year 2024. She earlier was the author of thirteen best-selling cookbooks, and is widely known from her shows and appearances on the Food Network.
Amazon reports the Garten book “presents an intimate, entertaining, and inspiring account of her remarkable journey,” filled with accomplishments resulting from “hard work, audacious choices, and exquisite attention to detail.”
It’s a “high-spirited and no-holds-barred memoir that chronicles decades of personal challenges, adventures, misadventures, and unexpected career twists,” Amazon adds.
Copies in both printed and digital form are likely available from local public libraries, and area book stores and other retailers.
Also on the Book Club Schedule
Future club discussions are tentatively scheduled for June 14 and Aug. 9 (both Saturdays) at the pavilion in the township’s Cuddy Park, 102 Colonial Dr., Perkiomenville PA. Other meetings are planned for September and October, but dates, times and locations have yet to be announced. Book titles for all future sessions have yet to be determined.
The book club got its start in May 2024, and has continued to grow as an activity of the township Parks and Recreation Board. For more information, send an e-mail to Becky Strawbridge at rstrawbridge@lowerfrederick.org.
