EAST GREENVILLE PA – An adaptable island-like sofa collection, called Matic Sofa and created with the help of a premier designer, was introduced Wednesday (Feb. 13, 2025) by Knoll North America. Based in East Greenville, Knoll is a globally recognized producer of furnishings for office, hospitality, and home.

Matic Sofa is said to be inspired by the idea of a platform suspended in space. It is “distinct in its ability to quickly meet the needs of any environment,” Knoll says.
The collection consists of a modular design and four distinct configurations – sofa, chaise sectional, L-shaped sectional, and one-arm sectional. It intends to provide ample space for sitters to relax in a variety of positions.
Italian designer Piero Lissoni, who provides what the company calls “a tailored approach to architecture, furniture, interiors, and graphic design,” worked with Knoll in adding Matic to his portfolio. The company reports it also called upon Lissoni last fall to offer its Panoramic Sofa in North America.
A Sofa That ‘Transforms’
Matic features a unique curved back. Its internal mechanism can be turned to adjust comfort, and deliver more flexibility, the company says. Each side of its curved backrests can be bent to a choice of two additional positions, providing added comfort for relaxation or conversation.
The sofa can transform with a variety of different fabric or leather options, and its aluminum frame is available with a glossy or charcoal painted finish. Knoll considers Matic as a timeless addition “for everywhere from an office lounge or a hotel lobby, to a great room.”
It carries a starting price of $9,995, and be purchased in stores, online, or by contract with its dealers.
Lissoni operates from offices in Milan and New York. He describes his work as “clean, and more or less silent,” achieved “through proportion, harmony, and minimalism.”
