BOYERTOWN PA – The many accomplishments of Boyertown community women – among them their business acumen, leadership abilities, and willingness to help their neighbors – will be celebrated during March with the first annual “Making HERstory” women’s dinner.
Building A Better Boyertown (BABB), the borough’s Main Street America-affiliated promoter, announced plans for the dinner in its Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2025) newsletter. It intends to “celebrate the strength, wisdom, and camaraderie of women in a space where every voice is valued,” the organization says.
The event is scheduled for March 8 (Saturday) beginning at 6 p.m. in the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles, 85 S. Walnut St. It features a catered dinner, cash bar, entertainment, prizes, and many opportunities to “treat yourself,” BABB says. Tickets are available now online.
“Making HERstory” was born of the recognition “that more than 25 businesses, just on Reading and Philadelphia (Avenues) right here in Boyertown, are owned and/or operated by women,” BABB explains. “We think that is pretty amazing! So that got us thinking … what other amazing things have the women of our community accomplished?”
Its answers will be presented during the dinner, envisioned as what it calls “an evening of connection, inspiration, and delightful cuisine.” It’s an opportunity “to come together, share stories, and enjoy a wonderful meal in the company of incredible women,” BABB adds.
Mayor-Inspired Community Gateway Benefits
Its beneficiary is woman-related too. Proceeds will help advance the Marianne Deery Community Gateway public improvement project.
Currently known as the Community Walkway, it is planned as a “pocket park” that also serves as an outdoor performance space and relaxing entrance to downtown. It will be dedicated to former borough Mayor Marianne Deery, who dedicated her life to community service.
