In Business: Ocean State’s Pottstown Grand Opening, Outlets’ Holiday Event

In this edition of local business news, Ocean State Job Lot at Pottstown Plaza on State Street has scheduled its grand opening day. Philadelphia Premium Outlets plan an activity-filled holiday event. Aerie/Offline has opened its newest store locally. American Eagle recently remodeled its space.

Ocean State Job Lot Schedules Dec. 7 ‘Grand Opening’

POTTSTOWN PA – Ocean State Job Lot, the discount retailer that occupied the former supermarket space at Pottstown Plaza, will hold its official grand opening ceremonies Dec. 7 (2024; Saturday) from 9 a.m. to noon at the store, 799 State St.

There’s no need to delay shopping until then, employees enthusiastically say.

The company’s “soft opening” of its Pottstown store – a period in which “kinks” in plans, equipment, and service get worked out – began in mid-November. Customers have been streaming in and out of the place since. Although the store will be closed Thanksgiving Day, it’s otherwise open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

There are several reasons to attend the Dec. 7 grand opening, the Ocean State Job Lot Facebook page notes. Its plans to offer give-aways, pictures with Santa, a caricature artist, and other activities. Expect to find a bargain or two as well, employees hinted.

If you’re in need of a job, the store’s website says its is “currently hiring for our new store, and would love for you to be a part of the team.” Be aware, though, that the company’s Pottstown “job board” webpage does not indicate any existing openings.

Outlets’ Announce Holiday Event Dec. 14 (Saturday)

POTTSTOWN PA – A “holiday event” planned at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets, 18 W. Lightcap Rd., is scheduled for Dec. 14 (2024; Saturday) from 1-3 p.m. Its Friday newsletter says the day includes:

• Live performances by Dickens Holiday Carolers
• Face painting and balloon twisting entertainments
• Food and drink trucks presented by Cardinal Hollow Winery, 3 Roosters, Fiesta Churros, and others;
• The ability to take photos at its “holiday-themed selfie experience” and hand-painted holiday mural by a local artist; and
• Opportunities to make reservations for photos with Santa.

Aerie/Offline Opens at Philadelphia Premium Outlets

POTTSTOWN PA – Aerie/Offline, a brand operated by American Eagle Outfitters Inc., has opened at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets, it also reports.

Offline sells leggings, sports bras, underwear, swim, tops, workout dresses, skirts and other items in a range of sizes. Some “pieces (are) made with sustainable fabrics, it adds. Reach it fastest using the outlets’ entrance between Tommy Hilfiger and Ann Taylor.

Separately, the newsletter also mentions that the American Eagle store itself, located only steps from Offline, is “newly remodeled.”
