POTTSTOWN PA – A night of trick-or-treating and other Halloween-related fun is on the calendar for Thursday (Oct. 24, 2024) at the Pottstown Children’s Discovery Center, 95 S. Hanover St.
That event will be followed Saturday (Oct. 26) by the center’s “messy challenge.” During it, visitors will have a chance to cover themselves with goo and lots of other curious stuff.
A Night in the Discovery Center
For those who have ever wondered what the center is like at night, when its lights go out, its staff claims Thursday from 5-7 p.m. is a chance to find out! “Come dressed in (a) costume for a fun night of trick-or-treating” there, they say. Games and a craft activity are planned. “Don’t miss this Spooktakular night,” staffers add.
Besides a general admission ticket to the museum itself (it costs $10 for all ages, but is free to center members), there’s no additional cost for the fun.
The Fall Messy Challenge
What a better way to celebrate fall than to make a mess? Both kids and adults are likely to enjoy the discovery center’s indoor “Fall Messy Challenge,” scheduled for Saturday from 2-4 p.m. Best part about that for adults, the center notes, is that the clean-up is left to someone else!
“As autumn arrives, children are eager to engage in play and creativity,” the center notes, and its event is available to help make that happen. The staff has planned an “exciting and messy obstacle course for all participants,” it says. They’ll “navigate through silly string webs, spaghetti pools, eyeball buckets, bubble fog,” pumpkin-gut slime, a corn pool, and a variety of other messes.
Before they do, though, some of Pottstown’s community leaders will have their own opportunity to get down and dirty on the course, according to the center.
The event also features pumpkin-painting, a fall-themed photo area by Laurel and Lace, and sensory play zones. Participant tickets cost $5 each for center members, and $15 for non-members (which also includes play in the discovery center).
