More 422 Blasting Ahead; Other Work in Green Lane

May 10, 2024

KING OF PRUSSIA PA – Controlled blasting, lane closures, and traffic stoppages on U.S. Route 422 in Lower Pottsgrove, and unrelated highway resurfacing in Green Lane and Marlborough, are among state highway construction activities next Monday through Friday (May 13-17).

They are compiled from Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) media releases.

PennDOT advises drivers to allow extra time when traveling through any work areas. Traffic slowdowns may occur. All scheduled activities depend on acceptable weather.

Lane Closures, Blasting on 422 in Lower Pottsgrove

LOWER POTTSGROVE PA – Construction activities announced by PennDOT for Monday through Friday in Lower Pottsgrove Township will affect on U.S. Route 422 and Sanatoga Road. PennDOT issued advisories on these traffic restrictions:

  • A lane closure will be in place Monday through Thursday (May 13-16) overnights from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning on eastbound and westbound 422, between its Route 724 and Route 100 interchanges, for Intelligent Transportation System installation;
  • A lane closure will be in place periodically Monday through Friday (May 13-17) from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. on westbound 422, between Evergreen Road and Armand Hammer Boulevard, for shoulder reconstruction;
  • A lane closure will be in place periodically Monday through Friday (May 13-17) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on eastbound 422, between Keim Street and Evergreen Road, for roadway reconstruction;
  • A lane closure with flagging will be in place Monday through Friday (May 13-17) from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sanatoga Road, between Linfield Road and High Street, for bridge construction; and
  • Intermittent 15-minute traffic stoppages and traffic paces will be in place Wednesday through Friday (May 15-17) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in both directions on 422, between Evergreen Road and Armand Hammer Boulevard, for controlled blasting. Stoppages and paces are required to protect drivers and workers, so crews can safely perform controlled rock blasting and excavate the area for drainage construction.

The activities are part of an $83.6 million project to reconstruct and improve about 2.1 miles of the expressway, and replace bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road.

Highway resurfacing in Green Lane, Marlborough

GREEN LANE PA – A lane closure is scheduled for Monday through Friday (May 13-17) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Upper Ridge Road, between Route 29 and the Bucks County line, in Green Lane Borough and Marlborough Township, for tar sealing work.

It is one of six road resurfacing projects announced for the week in Montgomery County by PennDOT’s District 6 office in King of Prussia. Across the district’s five-county Philadelphia region, the agency said it was involved in “multiple ongoing projects to repair and pave more than 200 miles of state highway.”

Its contractors are repairing, milling, and repaving state highways with new asphalt pavement to seal roadways and provide drivers with a safer and smoother riding surface, it added.
