MORGANTOWN PA – Berks County-based Morgan Truck Body of Morgantown has acquired a Canadian truck body manufacturer, Transit Truck Bodies Inc., the company said Tuesday (March 5, 2024). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
With its purchase, Morgan adds a 14th manufacturing facility in North America. It noted that Transit’s plant, headquartered in Quebec and “known for quality and efficiency,” provides an expandable 120,000 square feet of truck body production space to fulfill demand in its North American markets.
Morgan said it also would strengthen its customer service in Canada.
Transit, founded in 1978, offers a product line of cutaway, dry freight, refrigerated, and tailor-made truck body solutions. Morgan, founded in 1952, employs 2,700 across 21 U.S. and Canada locations and claims it is North America’s largest manufacturer of light- and medium-duty truck bodies. Morgan is a subsidiary of J.B. Poindexter & Co. Inc., an owner-operated business providing automotive and manufacturing goods and services.
