BOYERTOWN PA – Highway maintenance crews from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation plan to work Wednesday (Nov. 29, 2023) in Boyertown and Thursday (Nov. 30) in Bally, which the department said would create one-day lane restrictions or lane closures.
In Boyertown, PennDOT said daytime lane restrictions would be enforced Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Montgomery Avenue, between East 6th Street and North Berks Street, for pothole patching. Traffic delays are expected, it added, and the department cautioned drivers to move carefully through the work zone. Rainy weather will postpone the repairs, it said.
In Bally, lane closures are anticipated Thursday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Route 100, between Gehringer Road and Niantic Road, for unspecified work activity. Lanes in both directions will be affected, according to the department, and flaggers will be deployed at the scene. It told drivers to expect delays and “use caution driving through the work zone.” Again, rainy weather is likely to postpone the work and prompt a rescheduling.
PennDOT’s District 5 office reminded drivers they can check online for conditions on major roadways in Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton, and Schuylkill counties. Its “5-1-1 PA” website provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. The service is also available as an app for Apple- and Android-powered devices.
