POTTSTOWN PA – Local civic and community groups created floats, decorated vehicles, and brought their costumed or uniformed members out Sunday (Oct. 22, 2023) afternoon onto East High Street for the borough’s revived 2023 Halloween parade.
If judged by the volume of candy and treats distributed to cheering children and adults who lined the street to watch the procession, the event was a rousing success. As a bonus, many members of the viewing public dressed up in costumes as well, adding to the festive air.
While the attendance was less than what other borough parades occasionally attract, viewers generally seemed to agree the Halloween outing was entertaining.
Here’s some of what was seen.
Out on the street
The Hobart’s Run neighborhood group served as the parade’s official organizer, after the Pottstown Rotary Club could not continue in the role. Sponsorship donations were offered by the Pottstown Area Health and Wellness Foundation, The Hill School, state Sen. Tracy Pennycuick, state Rep. Joe Ciresi, and Tower Health. Pottstown Parks and Recreation Department employees assisted the organizers.
