POTTSTOWN PA – “The Run by the River,” an annual 5-K run sponsored by the non-profit Hobart’s Run neighborhood organization in the borough, is scheduled for Oct. 29 (2023; Sunday). Registration opens at 8 a.m., with a 9 a.m. run start, at Riverfront Park, 100 College Dr. The event adds a spooky twist this year in recognition of the Halloween celebrations to follow.
Runners are encouraged to get into a creepy, funny, or festive Monster Mash mindset, and run in their very best Halloween attire. Special prizes will be awarded for fastest runners as well as those who are most “spirited” in categories. They include the scariest costume, best duo costume, best group (3 or more) costume, and most creative costume.
The run raises money to benefit Hobart’s Run neighborhood improvement initiatives, including its Adopt-a-Trashcan program; grants to incentivize businesses, improve business facades, and homes needing repairs; and to serve area children and families in need.
The organization is seeking sponsorship support from area businesses, individuals, and organizations. All levels include a variety of related benefits. Interested parties can send an e-mail to Jacqueline Steinman at jacqueline@hobartsrunpottstown.org, or call 610-705-1018.
Runners, and walkers, too, also are needed for the Halloween-focused event to again be a success. Specifics about the run and registration both are available online.
