POTTSTOWN PA – Milling, repaving, and utility adjustment projects this week on portions of High Street across Pottstown and Lower and West Pottsgrove townships are resulting in several lane closures, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said. All were scheduled to occur between Sunday (Aug. 20, 2023) and Friday (Aug. 25).
The effort is part of PennDOT’s repaving plan for more than 200 miles of state highway across the Philadelphia Region, it added, with a total value of $134 million. It is milling the existing roadways, and repaving them with new asphalt, to provide drivers with a smoother riding surface.
Scheduled were:
- A lane closure Sunday (Aug. 20) from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, on High Street between Manatawny Street and the Berks County line, in Pottstown Borough and Lower Pottsgrove Township;
- A lane closure Sunday (Aug. 20) from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, on High Street between Pleasant View Road and Roland Street, in Pottstown Borough and West Pottsgrove Township;
- A lane closure Monday through Friday (Aug. 21-25) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, on High Street between Manatawny Street and the Berks County line in Pottstown Borough and Lower Pottsgrove Township; and
- A lane closure Monday through Friday (Aug. 21-25) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning,on High Street between Pleasant View Road and Roland Street in Pottstown Borough and West Pottsgrove Township.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. Slowdowns are anticipated. All scheduled activities depend on satisfactory weather.
