Talks in Sanatoga about Revolutionary and Civil war history, and in Norristown about the research required for accuracy in historical novels, are scheduled on August and September calendars. All are free and open to the public.
Area Novelist Discusses Historical Research in Aug. 10 Norristown Talk
NORRISTOWN PA – Award-winning author Rebecca Price Janney will discuss researching history for a historical novel during an August program at the Historical Society of Montgomery County.
Janney, who has written 26 books and is well-known for her “Easton Series” of novels, is the featured speaker Aug. 10 (2023; Thursday) beginning at 7 p.m. in the society’s offices at 1654 DeKalb St. Her talk will be preceded by a 6:30 p.m. “social gathering and light refreshments.”
Both are free to attend and open to the public. The building is handicapped accessible, with off-street parking available.
The society said Janney will address what it’s “like to research history for a historical novel,” as well as “the role historical societies have played” in the creation of her books. Four History Talks Scheduled Through November at Sanatoga Ridge
SANATOGA PA – Historian Michael Jesberger is the featured speaker for a free, monthly “lunch-and-learn” series of talks presented on the second Thursday of each month through November (2023) at Sanatoga Ridge Community, 2461 E. High St.
Visitors are invited to bring their own lunch to the lectures, which begin at noon. Advance reservations are requested; to reserve a seat call 610-326-6282.
Dates and topics include:
- Sept 14, “The Civil War: Comrades in Arms: West Point Classmates;”
- Oct. 12, “The Civil War: The Assassination of President Lincoln;” and
- Nov. 9, “The 1918 Influenza Pandemic in Philadelphia.”
