BOYERTOWN PA – Area residents and visitors can “experience local history in a unique and meaningful way” during an advance observance of All Souls’ Day. It’s scheduled for Nov. 1 (Sunday) at Fairview Cemetery, 317 W. Philadelphia Ave.
The Boyertown Area Historical Society, and the Fairview Cemetery Association Inc., will host “Souls Aglow at Fairview” from 2-4:30 p.m.
The ticketed event offers a special walking tour of the cemetery’s historic grounds. It provides participants with stories about the “the lives, legacies, and local history” of individuals buried there. Many are among those who earlier helped shape Boyertown.
“Souls Aglow at Fairview” likely will appeal to history enthusiasts, long-time residents, and those seeking a different way to spend an afternoon. The tour presents an opportunity to connect with the past. Learn more about people who helped make the Boyertown area special.
‘Souls’ Tickets Available Now for Purchase
All Souls’ Day is a Christian tradition dedicated to remembering and praying for those who have died. This year it will be officially observed on Nov. 2 (Monday). It also coincides with Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations in Mexico.
Tickets cost $8 in advance and may be purchased online. They also are being sold at The Grill Shop, and the Peppermint Stick Candy Store, during operating hours.
Tickets also can be bought at the gate too, on the day of the event, for $10 (cash only). Parking will be available at Morrell’s Funeral Home, or at the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles.
The historical society “preserves and shares the history of the Boyertown area” through collections, programs, and community events. In partnership with the cemetery association, the event provides an opportunity to bring local history to life.
