POTTSTOWN PA – Drivers in Pottstown and Norristown who regularly transport young children in their vehicles can take advantage of car seat checks scheduled for October.
Montgomery County’s Health and Human Services Department and Safe Kids Southeastern PA are hosting the two events. They will be held:
- Oct. 9 (Friday) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Goodwill Fire Company, 714 E. High St., Pottstown; and
- Oct 14 (Wednesday) starting at 9 a.m. at the Montgomery Hose Fire Company, 201 W. Freedley St., Norristown.
Car seat check events are free of charge. All parents and care-givers of young children, who ride in either car seats or booster seats, are encouraged to attend.
Certified child passenger safety technicians will check to ensure the seats’ harnessing is correct. They also will offer instructions to drivers so they understand how children can ride safely. Children may attend the event, but it will be helpful to have someone other than the driver involved to assist with childcare, the department suggests.
Advance appointments, which can be made online, are required. Sign up for the Pottstown event here, and for the Norristown event here.

One-On-One Appointments with Technicians
All appointments with technicians are one-on-one, and in-person. Drivers are asked to come prepared with seats installed in the car to be used, and to engage with the technician throughout the entire appointment.
Appointments are intended to provide education about fittings, and not installation, according to the department. Drivers also are asked to bring the car seat manual and vehicle owner’s manual to the appointment.
