Mosaic Offering Another Affordable Home in Pottstown

Mosaic Offers Another Affordable Home in Pottstown

September 6, 2026

POTTSTOWN PA – A borough home currently owned, and nearly completed by, the Mosaic Community Land Trust is available for sale to prospective buyers, the non-profit agency reports.

Mosaic is dedicated in part to “creating permanently affordable home ownership in Pottstown.” In a Monday (Aug. 31, 2026) e-mail, the agency says it has “re-opened” a short window to accept applications of buyer interest from the public.

“This could be your opportunity to become a homeowner,” it adds.

The “newly remodeled” home is located at 1078 South St. The property is described as “a great family home with off-street parking and a backyard, (and within) walking distance to Rupert Elementary School.”

According to Mosaic, those who may qualify as prospective candidates will:

  • Have a good credit history;
  • Have a manageable amount of existing debt;
  • Have household income between 80% and 120% of median family income; and
  • Be able to qualify for a mortgage.

Learn More; Attend An Open House

“You don’t have to be a perfect applicant to apply,” it explains. Those unsure about qualifying are encouraged to attend one of two open houses to learn more about the process, and talk with program representatives.

The open house gatherings are scheduled for Sept. 10 (Thursday) from 6-8 p.m., and Sept. 13 (Sunday) from 3-5 p.m.

The Next Step? Apply!

The application acceptance period is the second held for the property.

“When applications first opened, we heard from many people who were interested,” Mosaic says, “but only a few completed the application process.” For a variety of reasons, it notes, the initial applicants were ultimately unable to purchase the home.

That prompted the second application period. “If you’ve been thinking about home ownership, we encourage you to take the next step and apply,” the agency suggests.

How A Community Land Trust Works

Buyers who work with a community land trust, it says, purchase the house. However, the trust owns the land beneath it. Because Mosaic retains ownership of the land, it is able to make the home available at a more affordable price.

It keeps the home permanently affordable for future owners, too.

The community land trust model “can make home ownership possible for people who might otherwise have difficulty purchasing a home in Pottstown,” it acknowledges. Buyers retain “all the rights and responsibilities of a homeowner, including making mortgage payments and taxes, maintaining the property, and building equity.”
