Washington Township Prepares for Fall with a Festival

BARTO PA – Washington Township (Berks County) officials are already looking ahead to autumn, with plans for plenty of free fun.

The township’s Fall Festival is scheduled for Oct. 4 (2026; Sunday) from 1-8 p.m. at Barto Community Park, 120 Barto Rd.

The event is free to attend. Many of its activities also are free, and nearby parking is available.

Members of the township Parks and Recreation Board say children “will love the bounce house and slide, face painting, potato sack races, and a variety of free kids crafts.”

The family-friendly event also features a petting zoo, axe throwing, hay rides, and the opportunity to chow down on free s’mores treats and hot chocolate by a bonfire.

Meet First Responders, Too

Yard games, pumpkin bowling, and a sidewalk chalk art contest also are planned.

For parents and kids alike, the festival also offers a chance to meet and greet local first responders who help keep township residents safe. Representatives of the Bally Community Ambulance Association, and the Eastern Berks Fire and Rescue, will be on hand to say hello and talk about their services.

Meeting Ahead on Park’s Master Plan

An initial public workshop meeting to discuss the Barto Community Park master plan is scheduled for Aug. 18 (Tuesday), beginning at 7 p.m., at the township offices, 120 Barto Rd. The event is free to attend and open to the public.

The township Parks and Recreation Board will make draft plans available for viewing. It also will provide opportunities to those in attendance to offer opinions and feedback on its proposals.
