PHILADELPHIA PA – The newest postage stamp available from the U.S. Postal Service – and its branch post offices across Montgomery, Berks, and Chester counties – pays tribute to the document that is the cornerstone of America’s founding.
Postal service officials Saturday (July 4, 2026) released the Declaration of Independence Forever stamp. Its dedication was held at the B. Free Franklin Post Office, part of Independence Historical National Park in Philadelphia.
Customers can buy stamps and other philatelic products at The Postal Store online; by phone, at 844-737-7826; or at post office locations locally and nationwide.
Individual forever stamps currently cost 82 cents, and apply to standard 1-ounce letters. The price reflects an increase that takes effect July 12 (Sunday).
The significance of America’s founding document has been recognized on U.S. stamps before, including during the nation’s bicentennial in 1976. The new issue is what officials say is part of a broader celebration commemorating the United States’ 250 years of independence.
The unveiling’s center city location honors the Postal Service’s earliest beginnings under Benjamin Franklin. He was appointed the first postmaster general of the United Colonies on July 26, 1775, by the Second Continental Congress. Philadelphia served as the nation’s first capital and was Franklin’s home.
