POTTSTOWN PA – A community blood drive conducted by the TriCounty Active Adult Center (TRAAC) and the American Red Cross will be held June 26 (Friday) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the center’s newly renovated Social Service Annex, 288 Moser Rd.
Prospective donors can schedule an appointment online, or by calling the Red Cross at 1-800-733-2767. More information about donating blood also is available online.
TRAAC Executive Director Brian Parkes says the local non-profit organization “is committed to strengthening our community and helping meet hospital and patient needs through blood donations. This blood drive is our way of giving staff, colleagues, and neighbors an opportunity to help save lives.”
Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer donors. The Red Cross reports someone in the U.S. needs blood every two seconds. As a result, it adds, blood products must be constantly replenished.
Donors of all types are needed, especially those with types O negative, A negative, and B negative.
“We urge community members to donate blood,” Parkes adds. It helps “ensure that patients in local hospitals have a supply of blood ready and waiting before an emergency occurs. There’s no better feeling than knowing that your donation may give someone a second chance at life.”
