POTTSTOWN PA – “A Likeness Now Seen,” a group exhibition by contemporary artists who explore form as subject, continues through June 30 (2026, Tuesday) at Black Moth Tatoo and Gallery, 2209 E. High St., Ste 3.
The collection of artworks addresses issues of self-identity, body type acceptance, intimacy and aging. Invited participating artists are Anastasia Alexander, Jessica Bednarcik, Katherine Fraser, Drake Masters and Jason Maybruck, Thomas Tustin, Tony Ward, and Barbara Zanelli.
Black Moth Gallery is free to attend and open to the public. A portion of proceeds from this show will support the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County.
The artists work in various mediums, from timeless practices to exploring new materials and techniques. They also demonstrate their appreciation of the human figure, the gallery reports.
“Some exercise mastery of classic renderings of the subject. Others seek expressive interpretations and inspirations of the all so familiar forms, albeit infinitely unique,” it adds.
Commentary from the gallery notes that “these modern examples of a classic motif naturally register with us, because what we recognize is most familiar, a variation of the material self. These are moments in the finite life of another being, stilled and eternalized, sometimes venerated.”
Curating Unique and Solo Exhibitions
Black Moth Gallery, now in its eighth year, is operated by owner and premier tattoo artist Steve Martin. Exhibits feature periodic rotations of art work on display and for sale. It also curates unique group and solo exhibitions from local artists, as well as talents from across the country.
Reception nights for the artists’ and the public, accompanied by refreshments, are usually held at the start of an exhibition period. They also provide first opportunities to interact with the featured artists directly, and purchase favorite works.
Coming exhibitions are already planned for July through August, and Oct. 1-31.
